History affirms the rise of great kings from the soil of
India. Sikandra presents the regalia of great empires of India.
Sikandra town is located towards the west of city central and
separated by a distance of about 10 kms. The town has been named
after the Afghan ruler Sikandar Lodhi who used to rule the city of
Agra before mughals. Lodhi dynasty ended with the defeat of Sikandar
Lodhi but the name of the losing emperor survived and survived till
date. The mughal dynasty that followed reached its zenith during the
reign of emperor Akbar. The Sikandra town with nomenclature derived
from Lodhi's and great architectural pieces from Mughals' is a great
tourist place.
The town of Sikandra has, as the prime attraction, the tomb of
Akbar. The tomb of Akbar is an Indian variant of the pyramids of
Egypt. The tomb bears rich impressions of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist
and Jain architecture. The tomb is grounded in an elegant garden and
has lofty minarets on its (tomb's) corner. Cloisters, numerous bays,
piers and arches, paintings, carvings, floral designs, the tomb has
it all. The structure is built and has full five storeys. The
structure is built with red sandstone and marble. The construction
of the mausoleum was started by Akbar himself but was completed by
emperor Jehangir. The place is constantly visited by tourists and
indeed deer that roam around, in the compound lawns.

- The town of Sikandra lies off the Mathura Road. The place can
be reached by boarding a bus or hiring a taxi from the city
center.
- Bainpur and Bain Bazar are the regions in the vicinity of
Sikandra town.
- The Baluchpura Railway station is the nearest to Sikandra.
The railway station is about 5 kms from the place.
